In 1901, on her 63rd birthday, Annie Taylor decided she would be the first person to ride over Niagara Falls in a custom-made barrel, constructed of oak and iron and padded with a mattress. Two days before Taylor’s attempt, a domestic cat was sent over in her barrel to see if it would break or not; the cat luckily survived the plunge! Annie had intended the stunt to secure her financially and avoid the poor house. However her manager ran off with the barrel and she spent most of her life savings hiring a private detective to track him down. She spent her latter years posing with the barrel at a souvenir stand for tourist photographs. A most enterprising Woman of Wonder to take on such a feat at her age; we salute her with this beer in her honour. In respect of Annie’s Endeavour over the Cascade of Niagara falls we have used those hop varieties and also added a healthy dose of Simcoe to further enhance the zesty fruit notes of the brew.
