Brewer Vacancy

Job Description – Brewer

Brewster’s Brewery is looking for a professional brewer to join our small team. Initially you will be the sole hands on brewer but with support from other staff.

The Job entails

Brewing on our 20bbl brewery, casking and kegging, this will also include filtration and carbonation.

Maintaining production records, stock control and ordering raw materials on our production system Brewman.

Monitoring of QC checks and compliance with our quality standard SALSA. Development of QC standards. Wet yeast handling and full awareness of the required level of hygiene standards.

Basic equipment maintenance and environmental hygiene in the brewery.

We expect you to be fully involved with ideas for ingredients, styles and processing.

You will report to the Owner/Directors but will work primarily with Sara Barton (Managing Director) who has a Master’s Degree in Brewing and Distilling from Heriot Watt.

The Person will

Ideally have a brewing degree or IBD qualifications or you will be able to demonstrate a real world and practical understanding of the commercial brewing process.

You must have an analytical approach and be able to solve any potential problems. You will be thorough and have excellent attention to detail. You will need to be happy working on your own but with the potential to manage other staff in the future.

We would expect you to live within a reasonable travelling distance of the brewery and if applying from overseas be able to demonstrate the right to work in the UK with your application.

This is a small company so a degree of flexibility in attitude and approach will be expected. You must be aware that some weekend work may be needed to care for beer but this will be shared with other staff. Production days on occasion may stretch beyond normal working hours and you must be prepared for this to happen. Having said that we like keep work contained in normal hours and get to the pub early.

Salary will be dependent on experience.

Please email a CV to Sean McArdle sean@brewsters.co.uk with a covering letter to explain why you are the person to join Brewster’s. The closing date for applications is 16th June 2017
